Grow on You 03:35
Put your shoes on we’re going to a party I know you don’t like me much but I can grow on you I know you don’t drink too much or like my friends But maybe you can bitch about ‘em when you drive me home So put your shoes on we’re going to a party We’ll get all dolled up in our Sunday best I know you can’t drink too much or have much social skills But maybe I can teach you some when, when you drive me home When you drive me home I can teach you ‘bout the days of Rome When a bed was just a place called home, and I can show you my smooth moves So put your shoes on it’s been way too long I know you don’t like me much but I can grow on you

Never Be 03:03
I'll never be that close to you You’ll never be the one for me but I’m drowning in love and leaving I’m drowing in your good faith You give me something that’s more than a feeling You give me something to take away but I’ll never be You say the sun it warms your face but I say the sun, I’ve seen the rays they burn my eyes out I’m drowning in love and leaving I’m drowing in your good faith You give me something to take away the feeling You give me something to take away She loves me, she loves me not It’s true I hear I love you, I love you not I do my dear The pictures rot on Days don’t change me And I’m not who you need And I’ll never be I’ll never be
3.
Freakshow 03:40
Rolling up on another sucker town It might take all day and night But eventually they’ll all gather round 7 months in a row out on the road Shotgun blast of mornings cold There's a black cloud on my tail and where's my gold On the Midway, sad to say But this is where the real freaks show Country strong with the weight of the girl overhead Good for one show only then I'm dead But over my slope shoulder the cloud keeps getting closer Trembing as she looks for stronger men On the Midway, sad to say But this is where the real freaks show

It’s good, it’s good not to see you again ‘Cause I can’t take another tooth eating grin Think I’ll run think I’m sure You’re not smiling any more You botched it once, twice again You were cursed with the worst of an Irish smile She resists with a kiss once in a while It’s good, it’s good to see you again And I see you got you some better friends Better than this sour puss man Better have your sour mash plan Cause I’m shaky once, twice again You were blessed with the best of an Irish smile She resists with a kiss once in a while Betty says she’s not in love So I take her picture and I marked it up some So I’m shallow in the bitter end All I know it keeps me from drowning You were cursed with the worst of an Irish smile She resists with a kiss once in a while

Getaway 04:28
One day all of this will just go away Weight on shoulders will all decay It’ll be a special day Ditch all the bills we owe And the gaffer's call Never think about them at all And we'll just swill the talls I like the sound of that One day we wake from nothing We both will say Let’s find a way out of Dead End place It’ll be a special day Grab at the stash inside of your mother’s flat Skip to Heathrow in seconds flat I like the sound of that I like the sound of that I’m just trying to getaway I’m just dying to getaway I’ve had enough of all this she today I like the sound of that I’m just trying to getaway I’m just dying to getaway I wanna wash this feeling of debt away Getaway

So Long 03:43
Stumbled thru the dark with me I watch the tv bleeding from the ceiling It’s the same thing that I feel It’s the same thing that you feel And here it goes So long so long so long You were right there from the start Ya you were thinking out loud Was it the same thing that I felt Was it the same thing that you felt And here it goes So long so long so long

Broomsweep 03:26
Broomsweep love under rug Oh here it goes You were right there with me when the ship went down Side by side with darkness all around It was new to us that death could crash the scene We were all alone in an empty home and the panic said to me Oh here it goes I was right there with my brother Searching for our mother in the dark We were searching for an answer You can’t just say it’s cancer Let me out Oh here it goes I was right there with my brother Searching for our mother in the dark We were searching for an answer You’ll just say it’s cancer Broomsweep love under rug

Skeleton Key 03:05
Look at me Do you remember how we used to be? The court yard flat with the skeleton key. Look at me Do you remember when we fell in love? Our court yard flat with the skeleton key. The skeleton key. I look at you I see the same girl that you used to be. A different life now but you still hold the key. The skeleton key. Look at me Do you remember how I used to be? My court yard flat with the skeleton keys. The skeleton keys. Remember Remember Remember Remember Me

You 03:58
I’m dancing on your front lawn I’m wishing you had more time to join me I could never be more wrong Your spirit is always with me ‘Cos you made me feel so right You always held me too tight I’m walking across the park The sun’s in my face but it feels so dark The hours are growing late Remember the night when you said You made me feel so right You always held me too tight You said you’d hold me forever I can’t hold it all together You’ve taken this too another level And you’ve taken this to an ugly place That light that’s on is from the devil It’s taking you away, away…. I love you there is no doubt But with you I can’t live without We had our own set of plans but then STOP I’m down on my face again I said you always held me tight You always made me feel right You said you’d hold me forever I can’t hold it all together Forever you

about

Booking: Porterluna@yahoo.com
Web: www.TheTownies.net

The Townies 'Plug' has great big radio friendly tunes, a mix of jangly guitars, layered vocals and big drums, part early REM and part Foo Fighters at their poppiest big grin best. Keep your ears to the radio stations and your eyes on the charts as The Townies are coming and they want to take you with them." Glen Pinder, LeedsMusicScene.net

"The Townies new ablum Plug is front to back a great collection of songs!" DAve Crespo, Program Director at UNregularradio.com

"A euphoric sense of New Wave mortality leaning towards reckless Indie Rock and Roll, we find ourselves with the tremendously upbeat Townies. The new album `Plug` is out and on the first few listens it`s a determined little so and so, the simple octave-bending Power-Pop and cool sensibility recounts moments of alternative guitar innocence. Influences drawn through The Replacements, The Whigs and The Pixies! Andy Woodcraft ~ UK Music Blog Editor at Mojophenia.com

"A great band The Townies, fire & hooks a-plenty!!"
Robert Kennedy ~ 208records.co.uk

Their new 2013 release 'Plug' was recorded at Acadia Studio in Portland ME and includes producing and mixing by Paul Q. Kolderie (Radiohead, Pixies, Warren Zevon) on 5 songs.

The Townies regularly perform in Boston including venues such as The Hard Rock Cafe and The Paradise Rock Club. They are a band spread between Massachusetts and Maine.

The Townies were formed in 2008 when former Maine band Between Dreams (once hailed as “The Best Band in Portland, Maine” by the Casco Bay Weekly) members Dave Shorey, Jeff Bacon and Doug Cowan (Bullyclub, Welterweight) reunited and added a new rhythm section of Sean W. Hennessy on bass and Gordon Smith on drums.

Hennessy played professionally with the successful band Waxing Poetics based in Norfolk VA and was signed by Emergo ~ MCA Records. They recorded several albums, the first of which was produced by Mike Mills of REM and Mitch Easter of Let's Active. They played arena shows with the likes of The Red Hot Chili Peppers, Psychedelic Furs, The Ramones, 10,000 Maniacs, and cracked the Billboard Top 200 Charts while also having a video on MTV.

The Townies band members have raised over $17,000.00 over the years for causes such as J.D.R.F., Christopher Reeves Foundation, Toys for Tots, Stepping Back Into Life, and Bring Paula Home.
